Terms for using Cursus Books

Last updated: 22 June 2026

These terms govern your use of Cursus Books. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms and our Privacy policy.

Cursus Books is operated by Ashlands Green Ltd, 28 The Garstons, Bristol, UK. In these terms, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to Ashlands Green Ltd.

1. What Cursus Books provides

Cursus Books is a platform for creating and reading personalised, illustrated, choice-driven books. The service may include book generation, covers, chapters, pages, reader choices, progress tracking, bookmarks, family profiles, subscriptions, and mobile or web access.

2. Accounts and eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and agree to these terms. Children use the service only through a family account created and managed by a parent or guardian.

You must provide accurate account information and keep your login details secure. Parents or guardians are responsible for child profiles, family accounts, and use of the service by children they manage.

3. Family and child profiles

Family features are intended to help adults manage age-appropriate reading profiles. You must only create or manage a child profile where you are authorised to do so.

4. Book creation and AI content

Cursus uses AI systems to generate book plans, text, covers, illustrations, and continuation chapters. AI-generated content may be imperfect, unsuitable, repetitive, or not unique.

We may remove, restrict, or fail content that breaches our rules, appears unsafe, or cannot be generated reliably.

5. Subscriptions, payments, and cancellation

Some features require a paid subscription. Stripe processes payments, and subscription tiers may control book creation limits, family features, trials, renewals, and cancellation effects.

We may change subscription prices or plan features from time to time. Where a change affects your current plan, we will give you reasonable advance notice and the change will take effect at your next renewal. If you do not accept a price change, you may cancel before it takes effect.

You can cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or by contacting us. When you cancel, your subscription remains active until the end of the current paid period and will not renew after that. If you are a consumer in the UK or EU, you may have a statutory right to cancel a new subscription within 14 days of purchase. Because Cursus provides digital content and services that begin immediately, you agree that we may start providing the service straight away, and you acknowledge that this statutory right may be lost once provision has begun, to the extent permitted by law. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments already made are non-refundable.

6. Your content and our intellectual property

You retain any rights you have in details or prompts you provide. Generated books are stored for your use in the service, and you grant us the rights needed to host, process, display, continue, and support them.

Cursus Books, including its software, design, branding, logos, and underlying systems, belongs to Ashlands Green Ltd or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These terms do not give you any right to use our name, logos, or branding, except as needed to use the service normally. The rights granted to you are limited to using the service in line with these terms.

7. Acceptable use

You must not use Cursus to:

  • break the law or infringe someone else's rights;
  • create abusive, exploitative, hateful, or sexual content involving minors;
  • attempt to bypass age guardrails, usage limits, rate limits, or security controls;
  • interfere with the service, scrape it at scale, or abuse contact or support channels;
  • submit malicious code, secrets, payment data, or unnecessary sensitive personal data into prompts.

8. Suspension, termination, and account deletion

You may request account deletion through available account tools or by contacting us. Some operational records may be retained where required for security, legal, billing, diagnostics, or abuse prevention.

We may suspend or close an account, or remove content, if you breach these terms, misuse the service, or where we are required to do so by law or to protect the service or other users. Where reasonable and lawful, we will give you notice and an opportunity to put things right. If your account is closed for a serious breach, you may lose access to your generated content.

9. Service availability

Cursus depends on third-party services for authentication, payments, AI generation, image generation, storage, and email. We aim to provide a reliable service, but availability can be affected by provider outages or technical failures.

10. Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided as available. We do not guarantee that generated content will meet every expectation or be free from errors. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect losses or issues caused by misuse or third-party failures.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users through the website, app, or email.

12. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes relating to these terms or your use of Cursus Books are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence give you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.

13. Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent to legal@cursusbooks.com or through our contact form.
